Students enjoy Congress at Uni

Three Portland Secondary College students attended the Victorian SRC (student representative councils) Congress have described the three-day event as worthwhile. Flynn Roberts, 15, Harry Lipscombe, 15, and Willem Ciechowicz, 14, attended the congress held at Ormond College at The University of Melbourne. It was held during the recent school holidays.Liam Doyle, the school’s director of student voices and leadership, said it was the first time Portland Secondary College had been represented at the congress. "The three students were keen to attend," he said.Willem said 12 action groups were formed at the congress."Around 150 students from at least 50 schools were there," he said."Our group came up with plans to take student voices seriously such as adding students to school councils, and having a social media page to stay connected with other regional schools and SRCs."All three students said they would definitely be interested in attending the congress next year.
